I am back to running again and really enjoying it. This week is 9 miles of running total with my longest run of 4 miles. Next week is 10 miles.
I am almost at my goal for weight loss. I am so pleased.2 comments - Leave a comment

| Oct. 12th, 2009 05:06 pm Getting Ready for NH I think we finally have everything for our trip to NH. I just spent 3 days looking for shoes that looked good, didn't hurt my feet and cost less than $40. That was a trick. I think we are all set with warm clothes and dressy things.
I almost bought a pair of dress pants last weekend because they were a size 4 and fit. I had to exchange my bridesmaids dress for a size 6. Yeah for weight loss.
We finally found all the leaks around our picture window in the living room and now we are in process of fixing the sheet rock. I bought some foam insulation today and sanding sponges. We already had the drywall.
Thursday is Helena's 3rd birthday. Today we bought her a special party hat since she wanted one. I also bought some hats for the other kids in her class. You can really spend a lot of party favors if you want to.
I should go feed the cats. Current Mood: tired

| Sep. 25th, 2009 07:31 pm I want to run So I am getting really fidgetty about not running. I ran 1 mile on Tuesday and 2 miles on Thursday. That is not my 15miles a week I was doing. My hip is a bit sore still and I need to work more on icing it. I have been working on core strength, yoga and dancing with Helena. It is something.
I finally did make it to my weight loss goal. I would like to loose 5 more before the end of the year for a total of 43 lbs lost, but I will take what I have.

Work was really trying this week. I had 3 instruments go down completely, then one came back up but is only limping along. Tuesday is our Technology day where we present our work to the company president and VP's. I think that will be a bit nerve racking. It is one thing when it is strangers, another when it's the head of the company. Apparently there is a contest for best poster and best talk. We'll see. I get 10 minutes to present my information. How can one be graded on 10 minutes? Especially since these same people have classified my work as World Class.
This weekend I hope to work some more on getting the house winterized. Trying to cut down energy costs without replacing all the windows in the house. Who thought of using single pain windows in a house? And metal framed windows at that.Current Mood: bored

| Sep. 6th, 2009 03:28 pm I did it I did my 10K today. Man, do I hurt. Put in a good effort. Got a little lost within 1/2 mile from the end. Still finished in 1 hr 14 minutes. Race was new and not really well organized. People trying to get into a church parking lot made a couple area's tricky to run through.

| Aug. 31st, 2009 08:10 pm Update Work is picking up again. Should be good to keep busy for a while. I kind of had a bad technology day though. I got up and my new fitness computer watch crapped out, one of my instrument computers died, one of my instruments stopped working, the X-Ray diffraction unit had to be rebooted, and when I walked into a meeting someone's computer crashed.
I have my race this weekend that I am excited about. Tomorrow is a 2 mile trail run for me so Steve will pick up Helena so I can go after work. Those runs are hard but fun and tends to have beautiful views.
Helena seems to like her new school. She likes the teachers and is learning fast. Apparently they are learning about zero. I was trying to talk to her about it on our way to school. It is a hard concept to grasp for a 2 year old.
Helena will be 3 soon. Hard to believe. She grew overnight like a magic bean pole and we had to get her new clothes this weekend. $20 a pair of jeans for a toddler. Unbelievable.
I should go get ready to read her bed time stories. Leave a comment

| Aug. 22nd, 2009 11:02 am Birthday So my birthday is coming up soon and I have decided to give myself the gift of health. I am running my first 10K in 10years. Since January I have lost 36lbs and over 10inches off my waist. I have gone from running only 1 minute at a time to running 7 miles this morning. I ran 14miles this week. I can't believe how much more alert in general I feel and I can deal with stress far better than I used to.

| Aug. 20th, 2009 04:59 am I thought this was Funny CASH FOR CLUNKERS..........I QUALIFY IF MY BODY WERE A CAR...
If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish, and my paint job is getting a little dull. But that's not the worst of it. My headlights are out of focus, and it's especially hard to see things up close.
My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather.
My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins. It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently.
But here's the worst of it --
Almost every time I sneeze, cough or laugh, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires. CASH FOR CLUNKERS..........I QUALIFY - How about You? | | Leave a comment

| Aug. 2nd, 2009 05:17 pm Update I have updated some pictures from Colorado Springs. We went since I had a conference. Steven and Helena went with me to check out the area.

| Jul. 17th, 2009 05:54 am RIP Louise We have to put Louise to sleep today after battling with a sickness. Trying to explain this to a toddler is very strange. At the same time trying to make sure that she doesn't think that next time she goes to the doctor that he won't put her to "sleep". I will miss her a lot after being in our lives for over 10 years.

| Jun. 12th, 2009 04:53 am Day of Mixed Emotions Yesterday was a day full of good and the bad.
Good:
Got my Promotion at work. I am now an Associate Analytical Scientist. Got a bonus for my promotion and extra vacation. Went to a concert and saw a juggling show. I got my workout in.
Bad: I went for my run but couldn't will my body to go very far. The garage door keypad wouldn't work when I came back and I got locked out. Did not get a pay raise with my promotion. Found out Louise (the cat) is terminally ill and we are just making her comfy. Helena got sick again.
It was a tough day. Hopefully today will be better.

| May. 31st, 2009 08:37 pm Cuteness of a Toddler Helena was walking down' the aisles of Target yesterday singing "Jingle Bells" at the top of her lungs. It made some people smile and some scowl. It was cute.
At the grocery store today we used one of the carts that looks like it has a car in front. She was riding in the car and fell asleep. Everyone thought it was so cute they had to comment on her curled up and sleeping. She then fell under the steering wheels, got stuck and dumped her snack. Then she got mad.

| May. 23rd, 2009 05:39 am Things are going well. Work is kind of slow right now but still busy, just not crazy. It is a nice change. So therefore, I have been able to catch up on some reading and cleanup my desk of projects I keep intending to get to. My summer project this year is to write up all the work I have done over the last 9 months on the catalyst reaction setup a couple of us designed and built.
Looking forward to having a 3 day weekend. Not sure what we are going to be doing yet. Helena is still fun and sleeping. That means I have had a lot more time for reading. I am currently reading "Colour of Magic" by Terry Prachet which is the first book in the disk world series. It is fun. I am also trying to catch up on comics so that we can put them away and clean up our office.
Oh, yeah. Helena loves to sing. She was playing by herself the other day singing "I want to Rock, Rock." Over and Over again. It was really cute.
I should get ready for my run.

| Apr. 7th, 2009 03:08 pm Tim Minchin I heard Tim Minchin's Peace Anthem for Palestine on the Radio yesterday. It was so cute hearing Helena sing "We don't eat pigs. You don't eat Pigs." 3 comments - Leave a comment | |

| Mar. 31st, 2009 04:23 am Goals So Steve brought up the idea of doing a half marathon in December in Tucson last night for himself. Now I am contemplating doing it too. I have been working out for the goal of losing weight and not a race in mind. I am not sure if I want to switch focus or not. It is not unattainable by any means. Also, I don't even have to switch from what I was doing already. My knee is getting in better shape so running doesn't hurt anymore. I am just not sure. At least I have until June to figure it out. | Mar. 28th, 2009 06:16 pm Working out The exercising is going better. I have joined a couple programs that give incentives through my insurance. All in all, it is going well.

| Mar. 26th, 2009 04:41 pm Back on Track I got off track of my weight loss/exercise with being sick then on vacation. I am back on track now though. I didn't gain any weight over those two week, however, I didn't lose any either. I have been doing aerobics this week and next week I will start my running program back up again.
I know I can do it. I can, I can. Current Location: Home Current Music: NIN: Falling
